Aftab Barki appointed BUC Associate Treasurer
Aftab Barki, Assistant Treasurer of the British Union Conference (BUC), was recently appointed an Associate Treasurer of the BUC.
Aftab has demonstrated a remarkable array of leadership qualities, which have been noted in his work. He possesses a visionary outlook, capable of seeing beyond immediate challenges and envisioning the organisation's long-term trajectory of financial stewardship.
Aftab was born into an Adventist family in Pakistan. On completing high school, he continued his education by studying accountancy at Newbold College. After graduating in 2007 with a BSc in Accounting, he worked for the South England Conference for over nine years as a Senior Accountant before joining the Treasury team at the BUC in 2017. Aftab has supported the Treasury function at the Missions throughout his time at the BUC, recently becoming the Designated Treasurer for the Irish and Welsh Missions. He has also completed his accountancy exams for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
We are delighted to see Aftab's progression as he develops his education, experience, and expertise and his ability to envision the work of the Adventist Church.
When asked about his new role as an Associate Treasurer, he said, "I humbly accept this role, and I am willing to serve wherever God leads. I look forward to developing and implementing financial strategies that align with the BUC's Strategic Plan. The stewardship of financial resources within our organisation is not merely a matter of numbers and spreadsheets; it is a sacred trust that demands the utmost integrity, diligence, and dedication."
Aftab is married to Jasmine, and they have a nine-year-old daughter, Aniyah.
In appointing Aftab, we pray that his development will not cease but that he will continue to enhance his ability to better assist in the governance of our Union.
